Why couldn't you run a SRM recovery plan test with the sites disconnected (as long as you are using VR or your SRA supports it)? This would let you verify application functionality at the recovery site...

If you do what you wrote the two SRM instances would be in 2 completely different states. - One thinks things are as before (VMs running at the Protected site), the other thinks that workloads are now...

Based on the following link you can upgrade directly from 5.5 to 6.0, see: VMware Product Interoperability Matrixes But, if you want upgrade to 6.1 (or 6.1.1), you will need to upgrade to version 6.0...

Does this mean that even the storage is currently using SRDF (synchronous), when i use vsphere replication, the replication method will be asynchronous?would it cause any conflict since the storage is...
View ArticleRe: vSphere Replication on a SAN STorage
Hi, The vSphere replication will be asynchronous as this is the only option. The array based replication can be synchronous assuming you have the bandwidth and latency requirements. ChevUribe wrote:...

In SRM 6.1 when SPPG is used then what will happen if failback is triggered but before failback in Old recovery site few VM were created with the same policy that was the part of protection group. As...
View ArticleRe: SPPG in SRM 6.1
This wouldn't be possible because the storage at site A (the original protected site) would be in a read-only state. You could associate vms with the storage policy linked to the SPPG, but you couldn't...

That could work, just note that they aren't replicating a VM with physical RDMs as they are removing them or converting them to virtual mode.

View ArticleRe: vSphere Replication to replicate a SQL Cluster?
vSphere Replication supports replicating virtual mode RDMs. They are converted to VMDKs upon recovery though (which would mean that they likely wouldn't work on an ongoing basis for a SQL cluster). If...
